Over seventeen years attending events in the UAE, I've watched hundreds of keynote speakers deliver their work. The speakers I value most leave audiences inspired, share useful information, and challenge people to think and act differently after the talk. This is my refined list of the five keynote speakers I'd personally recommend for those qualities.
It's written for event planners, HR and L&D leaders and conference organisers choosing a keynote on resilience and leadership, or a complementary session on innovation or entrepreneurship. Not every speaker here is based in the UAE, so check each speaker's official site for where they work from.
What I look for in a keynote
- Inspiration: the audience leaves energised, not just entertained.
- Useful substance: ideas and tools people can apply at work, not just a story.
- Lasting change: material designed to shift how people think and act after the event.
- Professional track record: each speaks to corporate or conference audiences, with background facts you can check on the official and bureau pages linked below.
"Best" here is my personal view, and the right speaker still depends on your audience and the outcome you want. No speaker can guarantee a result, so match each one to your brief.

My five recommendations
James Taylor: creativity, innovation and AI
From what I see on the UAE events circuit, James is in exceptional demand, and he has built a very successful international career. AI and creativity is one of the most sought-after topics right now, and in my view he's one of the most informative speakers on it. He's a fantastic presenter who gets you thinking about things you may never have considered before.
About James: a British keynote speaker and author. His signature programme is SuperCreativity™, and his book is SuperCreativity: Augmenting Human Creativity in the Age of Artificial Intelligence. His site lists clients including Apple, Cisco, Deloitte and ADNOC.
Best for: innovation, creativity and AI themes. He complements the resilience talks on this list.

Maria Conceição: resilience and purpose
Maria is by far the most inspirational person I've ever met. We've shared many adventures, and I trekked to K2 base camp in support of her 2024 expedition, when she became the first Portuguese woman to summit K2. It was a pleasure to be part of that journey. Yet what inspires me most is her life's work: she has dedicated her life to Bangladeshi children, creating education and opportunities for them, including in the UAE. I've met many of the children she helps, and everything she does is for them. Her keynote is raw, it's real and it's her story, but it's a story like no other.
About Maria: her bureau profile describes her as the first Portuguese woman to summit Everest (2013) and K2 (2024), and an Explorers Grand Slam finisher. It says she holds ten Guinness World Records and founded the Maria Cristina Foundation, which educates children in Dhaka.
Best for: resilience, purpose and mindset with leadership and mixed corporate audiences.

Omar Al Busaidy: futurism and entrepreneurship
Omar thinks about things other people don't. He's imagining a world that hasn't been created yet, and the possibilities that can emerge as technology changes. He's a futurist, a good friend of mine and a lovely guy, and he's a very inspiring person to listen to.
About Omar: an Emirati author (Just Read It), Fulbright Scholar and founder of Global Possibilities. Event pages list him as a speaker at TEDxYouth, the World Diamond Congress and the Knowledge Summit.
Best for: futurism, entrepreneurship and future-focused sessions, including young professionals and students.

Paris Norriss (author): grit, resilience and decisions under pressure
My keynote is The Grit Code: a practical framework for performing when talent isn't enough. It's drawn from rowing 4,800 km across the Pacific with three teammates in 2023 and running seven marathons on seven continents in 5 days, 21 hours and 51 minutes. Past audiences include Nokia, Kraft Heinz, IHG, DHL, Dulsco, Expo 2020, COP28, the UN Tourism General Assembly and TEDx Amman.
Why it's on my list: The Grit Code is built for leadership teams, sales kick-offs and conferences focused on resilience and pressure. As it's my own talk, weigh my recommendation with that in mind.

Raha Moharrak: resilience and leadership
Raha is an incredible human being and a pioneering adventurer. What she achieved broke through barriers of expectation, and it has inspired many Arab women to go beyond what they were told was possible for them.
About Raha: her bureau profile says she is the first Saudi woman and youngest Arab to summit Everest (18 May 2013), and that she completed the Seven Summits by 2017. Her listed topics include leadership under pressure, fear management, resilience and women's leadership in the Arab world.
Best for: resilience and leadership with senior leaders and women-in-leadership audiences, especially where regional context matters.

How to choose: five questions to ask
- What should people do differently afterwards? Pick the speaker whose material matches that outcome, whether that's resilience, innovation or entrepreneurship.
- Who is in the room? Senior leaders, sales teams and students need different depth and examples.
- Can they tailor it? Ask how the talk connects to your theme and challenges.
- What's the evidence? Ask for a recent full-length video and an organiser reference.
- What format works? Keynote, workshop, virtual session or panel, and how long.
How to brief a speaker
Share the date and location, audience size and seniority, the event theme, the one outcome you want, the session length and format, and any sensitivities. A good speaker will ask follow-up questions.
