Why I champion The Grit Code
I am not a natural athlete. Before 2025 I had run one marathon in my life. Then I ran seven, on seven continents, in 5 days, 21 hours and 51 minutes. Two years earlier I rowed 4,800 km across the Pacific. Neither was talent. Both were training, more of the mind than the body.
That is the discovery I can’t keep to myself. Grit is not something a lucky few are born with. It is a muscle. Load it deliberately, recover properly, and it gets stronger, in anyone.
The timing matters. We are entering the most disruptive decade of working life. AI will rewrite jobs faster than any skills curriculum can keep up. The one capability that never goes out of date is the ability to keep going when the plan breaks.
Our children are more protected from hardship than any generation before, and less prepared for it. I want them to meet difficulty as something they have trained for, not something that happens to them.
The Grit Code is how I turn what I learned on the ocean, the ice and the start line into training anyone can use. Every expedition I take on from here is a live test of the method, and every person who trains with it is proof that it works.
